Top 5 Minecraft Mobs For XP Farming In 2022

In Minecraft, players can gain XP for doing all types of actions, from mining to breeding, trading and fishing. However, the most common way to gain XP is by killing mobs.

While having no effect on the player character, XP is used for the enchantment system, allowing players to enchant their items. Experience also recovers durability on items with Mending that are being worn or are in-hand.

In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 5 Minecraft mobs for XP farming in 2022.

1. Zombies

Zombie Spawner has a 50% chance to spawn in the center of a dungeon. Players can create a zombie farm for Rotten Flesh, Iron Ingots, Gears and Armor. Players can even drown them to create a drowned farm.

Unlike other big structures like Nether Fortress, you can't find the Dungeons in Minecraft using a normal game mechanic. Furthermore, unlike most generated structures, dungeons cannot be located with /locate either.

To locate a dungeon, players need to use third-party extensions like chunkbase.com. Load up the site and type in your seed to generate a map of your world. The potential locations for dungeon spawns will be marked on your map.

2. Blaze

In the Nether Fortress, players can find one or two blaze spawners on fenced platforms with full-block "stairs" leading up to them. Normally two are generated per fortress, but there can be fewer.

Blaze drops blaze rods, which are amazing fuels for brewing and crafting. Their exp drop is also good as well. This makes Blaze farms very efficient and therefore players should save the first blaze spawners they encounter.

While Nether Fortresses can be found scattered across the Nether in Minecraft, their spawning isn't entirely random. Nether Fortresses are more likely to spawn on the positive side of the X-axis, therefore moving north or south while keeping the X-axis positive is the best way to search for them.

3. Enderman

An enderman is a neutral mob found in all three dimensions. They are a valuable source to farm Ender Pearl, an item needed for igniting the End Portal.

Endermen can teleport and pick up blocks As they spawn in groups of 4, fighting multiple of them at the same time can be pretty tricky. Ranged attacks are ineffective against endermen as projectiles are hard-coded to not hit them.

While Enderman drops as much XP as skeletons or creepers, their spawn rate is much higher, which in turn makes Enderman XP farm much more efficient.

4. Pillagers

Pillager outposts are great structures to create illager EXP farms. Players can easily create an EXP farm from this while getting the various drops like Emeralds or crossbows. However, the biggest benefit from this is the Bad Omen interaction - players can kill the illager captains to get the free Bad Omen buff to trigger a raid farm.

5. Ender Dragon

The Ender Dragon, the final boss of Minecraft, will give you an insane amount of 12,000 XP. This amount is enough for you to get 30 levels. Note that this only applies for the first time you kill the Ender Dragon.

After the first time, the Ender Dragon will give 500 XP each time you kill it. While it is significantly less than when you kill it the first, it is still a lot.
